Land Acknowledgment
A Land Acknowledgement for Dundas, Ontario recognizes the traditional territories of the Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee, and Mississauga Peoples, and acknowledges the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant between the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabek, as well as the Between the Lakes Purchase of 1792 with the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. Today, the land is home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island, and the acknowledgement serves as a step towards reconciliation and building stronger relationships with Indigenous communities.
